Speak up... an intro

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

A Time for Everything

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

I’ve wrestled with the idea of starting a blog for quite some time now, because in all honesty, does the world need another one? Probably not. But, here I sit at my computer all the same because there are just some things that are bursting within me that need to come out. To me, writing is cathartic. I have always had a natural ability to write, even back when I was just out of college working my first real job. I would draft up letters for my boss that needed to be sent to our clients. I remember sending him a draft of a letter one day and his subsequent compliment about my ability to write in a clear and concise way. That is my aim at all times. Not too many words, but just the perfectly chosen amount in order to get a point across. Oh how many countless meetings I have sat through and how many countless articles I have read that are just FULL of words. Words words words. All of which, in conclusion, told me absolutely nothing useful for learning or growing. I completely subscribe to the K.I.S.S mantra in most things I do. I am not an over-thinker in any capacity, which might in reality make me sort of simple-minded, but man I count it as a true gift. I am also an Enneagram Type 8 and those who are familiar will understand that another gift (and possible fault) of mine is not really second guessing myself, which is a habitual practice of over-thinkers. Type 8’s tend to think we are correct most of the time anyway, so what’s to second guess? Again, not always a gift. All of this to say, there are some topics that I feel called to talk about, hence the name of the blog. There IS a time for everything under heaven and right now I feel God telling me it is my time to speak... and speak on I shall.
